A walk round Dinan in January

Dinan is a lovely medieval town in Brittany, France, about 10 min from our gite. It’s always a pleasure to walk round it. Even in the winter. Who said it always rains in Brittany?!

La Bourbansais Zoo and Chateau

La Bourbansais zoo and chateau is in Pleugueneuc, only 10 minutes from our gite.

La Bourbansais Zoo is involved in protecting endangered species, and has over 60 rare and unusual species in a natural, wooded and flower-filled setting. With its zoo, events, shows, castle and gardens, this estate has something for everyone.

Bétineuc lake

Betineuc lake is only a short walk or drive away from our gite.

Children will be able to build sand castles and even swim in the lake.

There is a café serving ice cream, drinks and snacks in the summer. You will also find picnic areas around the lake.

La Chêvrerie du Désert

La Chêvrerie du Désert – a local goat farm has a few unusual animals: donkeys from Poitou, Ouessant sheep, Jersey cows, and all sorts of chickens, cockerels, and birds. They have of course goats!

Sea Fishing

La Maison de la pêche organises all sorts of fishing activities. One is sea fishing around St Cast Le Guildo.

From the age of 8, anyone can take part. It is €15 per child and €20 per adult. To book call 06 03 21 48 59.

Dinan Petit Train

Every day from Easter to the end of September, Dinan Petit Train will take you round the town (old part, port, town centre, château, etc).

It starts from the port or Place Duclos (Théatre des Jacobins) from 9am to 7pm. They also do tours in English.

Bowling alley and amuzement centre in Dinan

Dinan bowling alley has all sorts of other entertainments to offer as well as bowling: football table, slippers, snooker tables, etc.

Boat trips from Dinan port to St Malo

The ‘Compagnie Corsaire’ offers a wide choice of boat trips from St Malo, St Cast, Dinard and Dinan.

From Dinan port, it will take you to St Malo in 2 hours 45 minutes. It is one way but they can organize a coach for the way back!
